Dreams

I spent the night just drifting in the hazy world of dreams
Where reality’s subjective and nothing’s what it seems.
Mosaic patterns flit around through past and future lives
Where memories and hopes converge. Imagination thrives.

Here all things meet and mingle. In dreams, all that can be, is.
And a love that never came to flower, blossoms, blooms and lives.
For I spent the night in dreaming and I dreamed you loved me well
And knew that since we met I’ve loved you more than I can tell.

We flowed together softly like the rivers and the seas
And danced our passion round about, made love beneath the trees.
Like dew upon the rose I laid my head upon your breast
And tenderly we held each other sinking into rest.

I woke to recollection and the bitter sting of tears.
For happiness we could have known together through the years
Has drifted out of reach like country blossom in a stream.
I’ll lay me down and think of you and meet you in my dreams.
